In 1941 Terezín became a ghetto concentrating Jews from Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Denmark and other European countries. More than 150,000 Jews were sent there, and although it was not an extermination camp, about 36,000 died in the ghetto itself, mostly because of epidemies and starvation. About 90,000 found their death after deportation to Auschwitz and other extermination camps. These events must not be forgotten and Terezin is a stark reminder of our dark history. The journey to Terezín lasts about 1 hour. During the way your guide will explain the history of Terezín and the Czech Republic. In Terezín you will visit a small fortress, a political prison, a place where people who protested against the Nazi system suffered and were tortured. Here you will have an excursion that lasts about 1 hour. During this excursion you will see the cells of the prisoners, bathrooms with showers and the place of the executions. Then you will visit a Large Forteress -  You will visit a Ghetto museum, where you will see paintings of the children from Terezin and much more. You will see a 'Propaganda' film made by nazis to convince the whole world that Terezín is a beautiful spa town given by Hitler to the Jews, where they have their own autonomy, they are happy and they do not miss anything. Then you will visit a secret synagogue, columbarium, morgue, Jewish Cemetery and a Crematorium. The tour ends in your hotel or in the center of Prague if you prefer.
